While perusing the thread about favourite fishing areas, I noticed the piece by BOF and his mention of Chellow Dean. I remembered the name, but not the venue until I checked in Google Maps. Now, Chellow Dean was difficult for me to get to and on the map, was tracing my old route and came across my old school, Thornton Grammar School. It used to be in Leaventhorpe, now it is in Hilltop...And it is now Beckfoot, Thornton School.. ‘Ang Abaht...Hilltop is no longer an area but the old Hilltop road is still there. Hope the Ring O’ Bells pub is going strong. Oi! What’s this? Bell dean is now Lower Grange. One wonders if Bradford will be named British West Bradford at some future date.
I used to wag school and tickle trout in Belldean beck...
Ahh good memories. Now, if I can remember where I used to live...It was 53 Market St, but is now another number.
Not only the times are a changin’...
