Thanks Adam and the others who have previously let us know they cannot make matches, it is a bit of a worry that the take up on the winter matches seems a little slow, these winter knock ups were put on at the request of the members and are as such not official YF matches (with regards to finance etc)as with all matches we have to book pegs and in most cases pay a deposit to reserve them for the match and some of the venues booked (better ones)do insist on us paying for all pegs booked we need around 10 for the winter matches and around 15 for the summer ones hopefully every one should know if they can make it or not by the weekend,Phill.
There will be a few more book on before the day including me if my shifts at work allow. Doing daft hours at moment but to be honest I think we gonna struggle for ten and even 15 in summer. Micks dissapeared. Kel carnt fish. Dean and greggy not been atending for a while. So I can only think of ten names maximum that have been well I been involved. Seem to get a few new faces do the odd match but that's all. Need to atract some new blood phil
Dare I say maybe attract a few more if a pools was introduced. Could be run seperate and not everyone would have to be in. But as sayin goes. You gotta be in to win..even a fiver with ten fishing you could pay top 3 25 15 and 10. Not a lot but maybe draw a bit more interest
The summer ones are not really a worry for me the £10 match fee will gives us enough surplus on most of the matches to make up any short fall on the matches where we do not take enough to cover the venue cost + its a lot easier to get people to fish as guests in the summer if we are short and the site covers the deposits etc,as long as the books balance at the end of the season (and they will)there is no problem
the pools idea has been tried (and been disastrous) before these are social matches all that would (and has) happened is you lose your social anglers who often have a walk and talk to the bloke on the next peg and the pools anglers will eventually want more pools or go there own way as happened before admin would not let the matches go that way again or would I, But fair comment from Suggsy,
This is a general problem for all sites, Angling info had 15 booked on a match at Moorfields I believe 5 turned up the other week
Not to despondent at the moment we have a good set of lads who enjoy each others company the rest will sort its self out.
I totally agree with Phil on the sweeps issue ,some people would just stop coming on the matches ,after all it is a day out for most guys and money would be irelavent to lots of people. I think the turnout problem is not just the YF matches,i fish on a Wednesday with a bunch of guys at sessay,we have struggled for numbers recently down to 4or 5 some matches (we pay £5 sweeps ) so money does not increase attendance ,I just think low turnouts is due to lots of things money, other personal commitments and even looking after kids or grand kids daft as it sounds,i also think these things run in cycles and attendances will increase.
I can see your point paul and it is fair comment .
Know that feeling Matt. I cannot see a problem if you wish to fish 9 am til 12 probably still catch more than us lol.we can sort you a couple of pegs out, these are friendly get together's Kel holds the record at Poolebridge farm setting all his tackle up then having to go home when his wife found out where he was, only kidding kel.
