Lets hope the weather kind to us at this match, not like the last one, may take a bottle of whisky to keep warm?. greggy Nah. it will be as good as the last one there, I take no responsibility for today's photo,s (probably the reason they turned out so good)great day today with nearly 22 lbs per man average probably the best we have had, Harry Nunns with his 13 lbs + of fish Greggy with his 22 lbs Dean with a beautiful Ghosty in his catch Good to see Rich back among the fish 25 lbs + Grandad b with his 12 lb + net Shaun with his silvers net and his Carp net 34 lbs + for second place Don't know who this was with his 29 lb + net of fish yes now I remember 4th place Justbits with a fine net of carp 23 lb + Paul with his 18 lb + net of fish Me with a 30 lb + net of silvers The crowd look in amazement when they realise i have another net to weigh (I did not take these photo,s) and my net of Carp that gave me the win today Les worked hard for these fish today. Ian with a fine net of fish 28 lb + Including a 9 lb + Carp And last but not least Stiglet with his 30 lb + net for 3rd place

I called in yesterday to sort the pegs out for this match and to confirm the summer booking which is on the Stable lake next one below the split pond that we are on on the 27th,same size pond (just been restocked apparently, had a few hours hard going but that is to be expected in February,I know of 2 matches in Sheffield that have been won with less than 2 lbs (not going to name them)one good thing is with the aeration system it should not be frozen over. Caught about 16/17 fish most were only 3-4 oz but had a nice Bream about 2-3 lbs the pond had frozen over in the night but was about half clear with the aerators doing a good job of shifting it only had maggots and a few casters caught on deck.

Are we on the same side as last time? - bit of cover under trees if windy and raining. The last time I fished Stable I had about 40lb of various sizes (not a match) - it usually is very fair.

Tbh there is nothing between the Stable and the split I had about 60 lbs of Ide last time I fished the Stable, We will look at the pegs a bit nearer the day, when I fished the wind was blowing across towards the tree side we have a good relationship with alex and indeed all the fishery's we fish which often enables us to only pay for the pegs we use and be flexible with the pegs we use, please bear this in mind when posting remember (middle of winter) all the fishery's are not going to be at their best 10 lb might be a good weight on the day (hoping for more)will go again next week and post my findings.

Last 3 matches on Split, over 50s, league and silvers have been won with 30lb, 29lb and 44lb. So there's some hope for us at least!

I went for a last short session yesterday much the same as the earlier visit apart from catching quite well after about 1.30pm apparently there are decent weights coming out in the over 50/open matches but so there should be those lads are venue experts who fish there every week on the way in the path is still not very good Alex has apologised for it quite a problem for him as it is not his path and at this time of year the frost/cold lifts the temporary repairs that he does every year, keep well to the right for the first 100 yds then switch to the left side to the end it is not to bad if you go very slowly you can miss most of the bumps.the wind tends to be blowing down the lake so wrap up warm.
