Hi guys, The name's Sam, just getting back in to fishing for the first time since I was a young'un! Moved up to Barnsley fairly recently and looking to get out on the banks soon. Any advice on good fishing round these parts much appreciated Cheers Sam

Hi Sam,
Welcome to the site. There's loads of good fishing in South Yorkshire. I started up again myself after moving up here. What sort of fishing are you looking to do? River, canal, lake?

Thanks, I'm mainly interested in lake fishing but plan to do a bit on the rivers too for the odd pike! I've never really tried canal fishing to be honest but I'd give it a whirl.

Cool, well it depends where abouts you live and whether you drive. There's tonnes of good places to fish. I'm a bit further out from Barnsley so don't fish there really. The closest I get is Milton ponds in Hoyland and then the many lakes in and around Chapeltown.
Around me there's Ferryboat Farm, Lowfields lakes, Elmtree Farm, barnburgh lakes, Bolton brick ponds, Burcroft ponds, the rivers Don and dearne plus the South Yorkshire canal.
There's bound to be people from Barnsley on here that can tell you more.
