Yeah, its that most wonderful time of the year - first trip of the year over the channel this coming Saturday ! Lac de Verger near Vitry le Francois, is a new venue for me and the Wizzard but its one with a long and varied history to it. A two lake complex, and we are fishing the lower stocked of the two called "willow lake", which is not a runs water but a thinking mans pit which requires a bit of thought and effort as it does not throw up large catches, normally just a few carp per week. However the fish are large, the water is mature and I'm told the food package is to die for ! A little taster below from last week which looks amazing, and I'll do a write up upon return......

Just checked up to date catch reports on the lake and its only produced one carp ! Mind you it was a 45lb + common so not a bad fish, but obviously not fishing its socks of. I'm guessing its going to start of slow for us and hopefully pick up towards the end of the session ? Anyway managed to unearth this pic from the lakes picture vaults, so especially for Mr Brassneck - a preview of what you can expect at meal times next year !!!

give my regards to the place ,,fished both Orchard and Willow many many times .... Aye up..... I remember you saying so some time back. Can't comment on how it was many years ago but all looks very well under the current owners Marcus & Bianca and of course Carl the bailiff. My own previous knowledge of the place goes back to that old vhs video "champagne carping" from god knows when and the promo clip on the Free spirit dvd when the JRC people owned it. A massive amount of work has been undertaken at the complex in the last five years, which is testament to the passion and commitment of the present owners. I'l do a blog write up with pics soonest.
