Marshlands used to be a great fishery but really went off the boil 2 years ago. Still worth a visit but its not what it was. Had big barbel out of there over 11lb regulary around peg s 3 to 7.

Martin I bought a Scunthorpe Police Angling club book the season before this and they still had East Halton then, but have just checked their website and see that East Halton is no longer on it. I am at a loss as to what has happened. They have had a long association with the owners and I have enjoyed some great bream catches from the place. The Police club has more than just ponds though. They have a great stretch of the Trent at Nabs Island and I see they have added a new stretch for 2010 as well as some of the Witham.

yes i believe that they aquired 2 or 3 new ponds at barrow upon humber to replace losing east halton last year,i also believe that scunthorpe and district have the old sheffield stretch of the trent ie dunham right bank upstream,to answer another post happy new year all

Shaun and Dede, Mmm, some good Carp live in that stretch. A few years ago during the close season we watched a couple of big fish. East Halton was a place i used to love fishing a few years ago for the Bream as you say, used to wade out and then fish stood up to your knee's in water.

Scunthorpe Pisces intend to put a fair bit of emphasis on the barrow complex .We attended a work party there last year and work is done in sympathy with John the owner whose house overlooks the site.It may not be an overnight success but will mature in time. www.scunthorpepoliceangling.co.uk/waters/Barrow/West%20Marsh.htm Thought link may help with what has happened. The proposed merger of Police(Pisces) and scunthorpe and district was a case of so near but so far and will not happen this year at least.

Has anybody been fishing Marshlands this year at all? Had heard it was on the Scunny book for £17 but found this hard to believe. My dad had 5 Barbel out a few years ago in one morning, great fishing. Is it still worth a trip? What are the rules now? as they used to be a bit OTT Steve
