take plenty of pva bags to put your rigs in to defeat the weed and look out for the swans and the coots they are not very rod and bait wise yet but as Hammy says Maf will be able to give you a lot more information regards Malc.

Thanks Lads. Mailed Maf and got a very positive reply. I hope that his methods combined with some of my own ideas will give us an edge when we fish it. Less chance of blanking anyway. -- I hope

Has anyone got any tips/ tactics for this place?? I thinking of fishing a day session here before a trip to daventry and want to know the best approach to get me a specimen tench or bream. I was thinking of hitting the specimen lake. Also would it be pointless taking the pole as i hear its very clear water??? Any help would be appreciated.

One tip I can give you is that if the wind is blowing from the East. Don`t bother getting the rods out of the car. Lads fishing it last Monday packed in at lunch as it was blowing a gale across from the East and they were struggling for bites. Bailiffs on site will tell you how to fish it but if I were fishing it for bream and tench I would fish green swimstim paste over pellet. Plenty of poles evident on Sunday so don`t dismiss pole as a method.

The vid is of course taken on the carp lake. We fished the carp lake last week for a night. I had the peg nearest the hut and my mate had the next peg up just before the bridge. 22 hours and one run between us resulting in a ghostie of about 7 lb.. I fished one rod in the bay in front of the hut hoping that the fish would be pushed in there by the easterly, at times, gale. I also fished out towards either end of island but about 8 yds short. Never had anything more than the odd bleep as a gust caught the line. One guy in the old part of the lake reported 2 runs One guy had one run and all others blanked.

Sounds like it might not be very good then??? It says a south south westerly wind for this week but not sure with what you guys are saying wether it will make a difference. How do i know if the wind is blowing easterly as ive never fished this place before??? ( Other than taking a wind sock and a compass)

SSW Wind is good. It may just be me but I have never had much joy with fishing when the wind blows from the east. If it is blowing from the carp lake towards the other two lakes then it is blowing from the east. Fishing with your back to the carp lake should be good for a few fish if it is blowing from the South West. Hope this helps. I looked at the photos and there are some cracking fish in there.

One last question! Are feeders allowed on the specimen lake? It stated no fixed lead/ feeder! Or how to you get round this?

One last question! Are feeders allowed on the specimen lake? It stated no fixed lead/ feeder! Or how to you get round this? Which means no fixed leads, no fixed feeders. I fish regularly with a running feeder. If you are unsure how to set up a running feeder PM me and I will explain how I set my simple rig up.
