How to show a You tube video on the forum.
Videos hosted on www.youtube.com can now be displayed on the forum without the need for posting a link or opening a new page.
Choose the video you wish to show which needs to be hosted on www.youtube.com and copy the direct link which should be displayed as url: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq4_6vn1wTI
Using the tag which is displayed top left when posting a message will give you the following code:
[ youtube][/youtube ]
Enter the video's url between the two brackets shown ] [ which should provide you with a link like this:
[ youtube ] www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq4_6vn1wTI[ /youtube ]
When posted correctly (without any gaps) the code and link will display as a video as follows:
Click the centre of the video to play the movie. NB: some (like this one) may have sound.
Making your own short video is relatively straight forward and we would recommend using Window Movie Maker which works as a simple drag and drop system inserting pictures and music files together as the above YF clip was made.
The effects, text additions and picture transitions are all standard but can be utilised to develop a very interesting movie.
The video clips can be quite large and take some time to load. The YF clip above has been compressed to play quickly which deteriorates the image quality but is still 10mb file size for 1min 30seconds of play time.
It may take a bit of practice but stick with it and please post any questions should you need any help.
