what about portugal better weather i had 4x 15lbs last week flights out can be found for 60 pounds and beer at pound a pint john Although a 15lb fish in my book is still a good fish, when carpers go abroad they tend to aim a bit bigger, say 30, 40, 50lb+ Kezzer

I have not been but a imagine it will be a bit hard for if you have not been carping in france before,,,,,,,,,, so if you do go don't exspect to catch a lot of fish,,,,, but also if you do go best get a few english 20s first michael...........

Everyone has to go to france for the first time at some stage, it's not that it will be harder, it's more the playing, handling and safe return of your quarry that's the issue, i think what michael is trying to say is that it's probably best to get a bit more experience under your belt before venturing to france, he himself will have been a first timer once, as was i.

I can think of several waters in France which would suit a "French newbie" or maybe someone who feels a bit out of their depth. And like has been said, everyone who has been to France was a newbie the first time anyway. PM me Potts if you would like to know a few of these waters for your trips in the future. But dont be put off going because you may feel you might need a bit more experience. On my last three trips I have fished in the company of anglers who had yet to catch their first 20 pound fish..... They had a great time, and all beat their pb's. And all happily learnt many good tips from the other anglers present.

Might try and get booked for there in Febuary if i can Does not open till April...... And from what I understand virtually all of 2008 is booked up already. Check with angling lines for availability....... Myself and the "Wheldrake wizzard" will be fishing elsewhere in France next year, but are about to re-book for Lac du val for 2009. Anyone fancy making one in with us ? Du Val takes 5 anglers max, so there will be 3 spare places [ ideally two ]. Looking to go about June time, and please no rotten toy boats..... LAST CALL !...... Phoning Angling lines this week for an exclusive booking at the simply marvellous "Lac - du -Val" in 2009. If its large carp, stunning venue, delicious food ? You would be hard pressed to find a finer venue. Two places left, and the opportunity to spend a week in my company is just too good to be true ? [ We would prefer Yorkshiremen to a couple of strange southern -e-nees]

You may now be relieved to know that we have filled the remaining two places for "Lac du Val"........ The two anglers in question couldnt get their deposits together quick enough when they found out they would be going with me

Here's a mate of David the owner, who nipped over for a guest session just a week ago and managed to land this cracking common of 60lb 4oz ! Love that deep shape....... Roll on 2009 !

I have read about some syndicates in france for british people to join....... And it is only about £300 to join and a week in france will be normaly about that price or more!!!!!! But i don't go to france that often i think i would prefer carping on the ebro...... Or maybe catfishing... Hoping for a 100lb plus catfish!!!!!!!!!

No nights on the ebro, so would mean a b and b or a hotel, therefore more expensive than £300 ?
The trouble with a syndicate in france is, the extra cost of getting there, ferry/eurotunnel, fuel, time, breakdown cover, etc etc
