I wont be fishing as the once mighty blades are at home. Might be available to fish some practice sessions though if anyone's going.

Welcome back to blighty Phil, Guess that means me and Rich will have to spend 2 hours looking at your holiday pics and listening to tales of endless sunshine before we gag you, throw you in the corner pond and then start fishing.. Mick

I joined Mick and Phil today at Lowfields Riverside lake. We fished the pegs booked for the knock up even though I wanted to fish in the twenties where the open match was won last week (Mick insisted I fish the booked pegs as I was an official practicer)- Mick was on peg 6. I was on peg 8 and Phil fairly skipped down to peg 10 on the corner point. He had reconned it last week and obviously knew that the carp lived in that corner as he caught quite a few nice carp mainly on dobbed bread over the far side (last time I show him a method- that's what I used at Moorfields pegged next to him!). I caught a mixed bag of ide, roach and some nice skimmers but not a sign of any carp in my peg, whilst Mick claimed a carp before me and Phil arrived plus lots of ide and roach. I left Mick at gone 5pm still trying to catch another carp (he'd been there since 7.30am). We tried bread, maggots, pellets, paste and corn but no carp at all for us, soundly beaten by Phil. The corners appear to be the hotspots here, the chap fishing the corner peg on Riverside next to the Corner pond told me that he'd been catching and losing carp all day using casters. To end the day I snapped off the top few inches of a top section of my new pole so went home grumpy! One of Mick's ide and one of Phil's carp,

3 more of the carp I had yesterday you may have to stand on your head as the rotate on photobucket is not working? there are plenty of other fish in here but it is whoever draws on the carp should win.where they are depends almost entirely on the wind IMO a few calm days can see them anywhere,I fished my peg a couple of weeks ago and it was void (almost) of carp but had plenty of silvers, fished today mainly with maggots and bread punch had about 8/9 carp and lost 3 + about 3/4 lbs of silvers mainly small ide,had 1 carp on paste that Rich gave me,but that was a one off, probably had more carp on the double maggot but did get pestered with the small Ide about 4/5ft down the track (did not catch there) and 3 ft in the margins caught most at far bank but do not neglect the nearside margins. Probably finished up with around 30 lbs (will settle for that in match)

On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad were the sewage works on the day you practiced. Not sure I can stand another five hours of methane inhalation Like I suffered last time . Having said that , a few of us manage to generate our own methane !!! No names , no pact drill .

Match preperation is beer and curry. Some people like t practice. Some like t get . To be fair though if yer carnt keep the curry in you could just have a dump in that corner pond. It will blend in with rest of it

Exactly, 124 lbs and i think 60+lbs came out of 2 middle pegs in the last match its just a case of drawing on them at this time of year.

Phil's peg 10 won today's open. Apparently Paul carp is the bookies favourite to draw it in saturday's match.

not really two very big weights came from the center pegs 24 26 last week it just depends where the carp are at this time of year they are still shoaled up but moving around,
