Well they say hindsight is a wonderful thing, so I'm feeling very wise after getting the bulk of my gear stolen at the weekend. This was mainly due to my stupidity of rushing into the house after a days fishing for a shower and forgetting to completely empty my car.
I am currently going through the insurance process. Here are some useful tips for those of you with contents insurance: - Receipts; it's tempting to bin these after a few weeks so that the other half does not discover your disgusting spending. However these are invaluable when you come to do a claim. Not all shops do itemized receipt. So if you have bought a high value item on that receipt; hand write it on their for your own records. - Packaging. Hold on to your boxes and rod sleeves etc. These can also be used as proof of purchase. - Photos. Taking photos of your kit is not just for tackle tarts. They can also be used as evidence of purchase. Next time you have your setup on the bank ; take a couple of photos to document what you have got.

Cheers lads. Pure stuplidity on my part. You don't hear too much about theft from cars as you used to and it's easy to become complacent.
I'm hoping Erics have a sale may bank weekend, so I can get some replacements. My poor old savings :-(

They got three Nash dwarf rods, matching landing net and couple of shinsno reels and a few other bits. I bought the gear so it would be easy to transport - also easy to pinch!!!

Sorry to hear of yet another loss of gear,it takes years to put it together and seconds to lift it. It is probable you like many more you were targeted these people know the location and take their chances to steal as the opportunity presents itself..!

Gents thanks for all the kind words and offers of kit loans. I only sent my claim letter off Wednesday and I have received a cheque today. Talk about good service (Integra insurance). Minus 100 quid excess - which I'm just accepting as a tax on my stupidity!!
Pretty much going to get the same setup, but I had shimano xtea 10000 reels previously, might go for the xtr ra 10000. Has anyone used these?

Sad to think that your beloved rods and reels were probably sold for a handful of Pot or a wrap to shove in a vein or up his nose !!
