copied from the facebook page of Unite Against Tackle TheftUnfortunately we have a theft to report, this happened a couple of hours ago at Lingers fishery somewhere near Knaresborough. While asleep the anglers tackle was taken. Items include Free Spirit E class rods 3.5tc, Shimano Longcasts, Delkim ev+ purple green and red with matching nite lites, duo carbs, snag ears, d-loks, century nev carbon 2 rod buzz bars and sticks with 2 extra sticks for 3rd rod, weigh sling and landing net. I haven't been able to find much about the fishery, I believe it is a syndicate. Please share the hell out of this as you always do! if you know any info or are offered any gear please let the police know, we have to do all we can to stamp this out, just remember it could be your gear next!!!!

Again from the same facebook page It seems the were busy last night, here is a bit of info on another one, which was at the High Park syndicate. It is thought to have taken place between 3-3:30am, 3 lads on fishing but the thieves appear to have missed out the bank where two were bivvied up, and only done the side where only one was. Gear that was taken: 2x sonik rods, 1 was 3lb tc and the other 3.25lb tc, reels are the new black sonik reels, 2x delkim txi+ alarms, 1 white and 1 blue, 2 monkey climbers and 2x2 rod stainless buzz bars with black ball butt rests. Share away everyone. looks like they have access to private lakes as two in the same night, both locked off i believe.

I read a report several months ago of gear being taken during the night from a camping/caravan site with fishing in North Yorkshire. Police were involved and warned campers/anglers not to leave any gear in awnings or under cars/vans during the night.

where is high park syndicate based as these tackle thefts are worryingly close to me, you do see some tackle at the local carboot sales going fairly cheap, these items tend to be more sea fishing tackle than carp tackle i find, personally i believe that these tackle thieves are only interested in carp and match anglers with all their expensive gear, if you have a small amount of basic gear its hardlt worth the risk of them getting caught to nick it

If it costs you next to nothing to get hold of something, anything you get for it is gratis, as they say. The people who buy these bargains and accept the weak stories the sellers tell they are as bad as the thieves themselves. If it's give away prices you know it's moody/iffy in some way.!

Many moons ago, long before it was a syndicate, I fished the place as a kid. As I know a few members, and know that the location is kept deliberately vague, I would not dream of saying where it is on a forum. The description on their own website of it being "an estate lake on the County Durham/North Yorkshire border not far from the A1/A66" should be enough to decide whether it's close to you without giving the game away and pinpointing it for those with less than good intentions.
