Self employed people take more money out of the tax system then benefits because they all fiddle there tax returns I was self-employed for years and I haven't got a clue what you're talking about mucca On a serious note, it's not as easy as it seems to get work. I have been looking for a job for 4 months and only just - today - got the call I was waiting for. In that 4 months, I have applied for over 150 jobs, had only 4 replies and 2 interviews. I am well qualified and experienced in my field so I can only imagine what it is like for someone with no quals or experience. I'm not making any excuses for the wasters on this tv programme, they don't want to work, just sit around smoking, drinking special brew and complaining that they're skint.....whilst watching their brand new 50" TV (or is it theirs ). All I'm saying is that we should be careful about tarring everyone who is on benefits with the same brush. Whichever way you look at it things are not good out there, it's not as easy to find work as some would have you believe

Forgot to say....the bit that got to me last night was the young couple, smoking like chimney's, house like a rats nest and they have the neck to go to a food bank, saying they can't afford food for their kids.....they should be publicly flogged and their kids taken away for their own good

This week i have bean on a couers via the jobcenter at a firm that helps people with disability's find work
Today they did me a better off counculation to see how better off i would be in work.
We went thru what i get from the goverment eg JSA, free school meals , houseing benafit , councial tax benafit , free chield care....
I would have to clear £256 a week (after tax ) to be better off....
So we had a loo at over 30 jobs not one of them would of made me better off.
THIS IS Y PEOPLE HAVE NO GET UP AND GO TO FIND A JOB WHO IN THE RIGHT WORLD WOULD WORK 40h A WEEK TO BE WORSE OFF

Obviously paying you and others too much maybe if they cut benefits and made you live on the minimum just enough to pay for food, heating rent etc and no money for the perks ,NO fishing then you may get off your on find a job . I just got in from a 9 hr graft and will I be off fishing this week, next , or week after , will I got bills to pay ;( But at least what I got I earned it , not had it given me .

All I'll say on the self employed people are just as bad remark is this,,,
Brummy is in same boat as me I'm sure,,,
I legally claim back my expenses diesal tools van and 5th of my electric and gas bills for my home office which I use plus a thousand other things I've to pay out
I work on average 6days a week if not more and get out of the house at 7am in the dark and I come back at around 7-9pm in the dark
I have over £4000 a month to find just to keep my business running and bills to pay advertising vans insirance diesal,,, tools and so on
That's without wages,,,,
On top of all that I come home and then answer calls do invoices and sort all my paperwork out,,, just to get in front
If it rains work stops or slows down If it snows work stops or slows down If my vans get screwed and tools knicked for thousands of pounds by the toerags that rob steal and cheat the system I suffer and pay the price
If a customer cancels a job on me at the last minute I've to find work for me and lads to jump onto sometimes it's not always possible
I've to go out there and worry about not only finding the job but priceing it up doing the job then getting paid for the job,,,
All for David Cameron to tax me at his cut of 20% to pay to idiots that don't wanna work,,,
He don't come knocking on my door and say here ya go jimmy sorry about ya van or lockup that's been screwed here's 5k to get ya gear back
Or when I'm stuck in Doors for 3 weeks and can't get van out becaus it's snowed in,,,,
As Brummy said
I work DAMM hard to have what I've got and I love the sensation of being my own boss and doing quality workmanship for people
So excuse me if I go out and buy a nice van and claim it back against a tax return,,,
That's what a good accountant is for,,,
There's a lot more to being self employed having ya own company
You have so much more responsibility,,, my back aches my feet are ruined from working outside in wet gear and my knees are falling apart, but we just bat on and do what we can do,,,,
Also as tradesman we pay vat something we don't get back, all we are is mini tax collectors for the vat man,,,
It's not easy working for yourself so there's got to be some benefits
Last week I put a kitchen right what a cowboy did for a 80 year old couple When we finished she stood and cried, kissed and cuddled me because she was so greatfull we put the mess right for her
That's the rewarding part of it all
Enough said jimmy

Claiming VAT back on your vans not shady though - you are legally entitled to claim it? the 20% I just paid on £600 worth of flooring I'm not allowed to claim back , vat was reduced to 15% a cut of 2.5 % to help business out . think it lasted 2 years , then put up to 20% and been like it ever since think they got what they lost when reduced and some .

Drunken it's surprisingly surprising What you can legally claim back legally and without question,, If it's anything to do with a business then it gets knocked off your TAX bill,,, On the vans mate I claim back the DEPRECIATION value against my tax bill So in effect I pay out of the business account for the van but each year it loses value so that gets taken off your tax bill, And so it should aswell,,, This is why you see a lot of range rovers and posh cars on the road business use that as a company car,,, The tax man can't question you if you go out and buy a "company car" for the business One thing that upsets me is when they say to me yes but it's a business van/car or well company paid for it Yes numpty but it comes out of my pocket at the end of the day lol,,,, you have to earn it to buy it at end of day lol Other thing is aswell I'm a soak trader NOT ltd business If my business god t!its up for whatever reason they come after my house,,,, Is that fair Lol

The reason I put that comment lads is that after reading this thread a few people have stereotyped every person on the dole as scroungers and layabouts and lazy this isn't true some people are in need of the benefits they receive. I stereotyped everyone that does a self assessment and as I thought it wasn't liked, so how do you think people who read some of the posts on this thread, some of them are already down enough I have been on benefits in the past and I know how hard it is to be on them and how upsetting it is when you can't afford things it's not nice people. please feel free to slag the people off on the show but don't tar everyone with the same brush. And please be careful when writing post like these as stereotyping is illegal in some cases and it has been used so stop it please it not nice and there no need on a public forum

But as for benefits the way I would like to see it done is based on what you have paid in ie if you have never worked you get the minimum payment/ none if you have worked all your life and through no fault of your own end up on them then you get a higher band this way people who have worked don't get classed as someone who hasn't bothered and every 6 month your on the dole you lose some of your benefit so there is a insenstive to get back into work as quickly as possible But the jobcentres do have to play there part cos they don't help people how they should and there system isn't very easy to use and most of the jobs are temp or nowhere near where you live I remember once been in jobcentre put in plumber 5 mile from Rotherham and the first page was full of jobs in London hows that helping The hole benefit system needs s ing and a new one put in place

Gaz not going to start a debate with you or an argument
But this thread is for the tv program that's on and it's a way to vent and share views on this It's in the general non fishing section
You simply don't have to read if it offends you
And no your not breaking the law here ,,, I'd like to see a copper lock someone up for such things,,,,
I know first hand what it's like to have no work
But if your on benefits got able and ready to work you should be spending 80+ hours a week every single week finding a job untill a job is found,,,,
So anyone who is on benefits reading this and gets offended then I'm sorry but you simply should not be on any forum untill you have a job located and found work,,, You certainly shouldn't be fishing and wasting time on a forum
That time could be used to find a job,,,
I did a 4 year apprentiship when I finished that my old boss let me go,,,
48 hours later I had 2 job offers I took the job for 4 weeks and hated every minute of it while doing the job I was out posting leaflets and calling old contacts I gathered from my old job After that I got my first contract at 19 years old Sanding and re staining 12000 square metres of beech flooring in Leeds city centre from an architect that I did a small £40 job for,,, I managed 4 lads he provided for 6 months doing offices up,,, and I've never looked back since
You simply ain't applying yourself enough to get a job ,,,, Simples
APPLY YOURSELF
Work is a treat not a chore
