I will endeavour to add as much info as I can in regard to accessible fishing venues most of these will be lakes, but Canals may also be added.
Ratings will be scored 1 to 5 for access with 1 being the worst and 5 the best, facilities will be rated A to C with A being the best.
The following venues I have fished and it is my opinion that I put here, however that said I worked for a number of years as a Building Surveyor that specifically dealt with adaptations and access for the disabled, so believe I may be able to provide a reasonable assessment .
Longbottoms Dam Birstall Spenvalley book, day tickets available on the bank £3 a day.
Most of it is accessible to both walking and wheelchair users, the footpath is wide and firm around the entire dam, with the exception of the top L/H corner which is a mud foot path that is little more than 2 feet wide making access impossible to wheelchair users.
Access from the road side is ok but not brilliant, but the pond is less than 3 mtrs from where you can park.
There are no facilities or toilets
Access 3
Facilities C
Mann Dam Cleckheaton
This is the other water on the Spenvalley Book day tickets on the bank £3 a day
This fishery has some good pegs which are more than suited for disabled anglers with solid built platforms, however getting to it is a bit of trek, I would suggest it is not accessible in a wheelchair due to the access footpath through the woods.
I manage reasonably well with my trolley to get through, but need to rest a couple of times on the way to the pond.
No Facilities
Access 2
Facilities C
Brookfoot Lake Brighouse
This covers approximately 4 acres and is on the Brighouse Anglers book, day tickets are available from Calder Angling (Not on the bank) the baliffs are always around so please get a ticket before you fish.
Access is very good, with adequate car parking around the lake, at least 50% of the lake is accessible to cars even if it is just a case of dropping your gear and then parking. quite a number of pegs have been fitted with wheelchair friendly platforms with a front guard.
The club work hard at maintaining the lake and providing access for disabled anglers with dedicated parking spaces available at 2 locations.
There is a toilet on site but it is NOT wheelchair accessible.
Access 4
Facilities B
Hebble and Calder Canal at rear of Brookfoot lake.
This is also on the Brighouse Book, day tickets as above.
This water extends from here to Elland and has good access along most of its length with a wide firm towpath that is wheelchair accessible for the most of the length.
Dedicated disabled platforms have been provided immediately behind Brookfoot Lake along with dedicated parking although access to them would require care and possibly some help from an able bodied person.
