Why on earth was this arranged for the evening before the river season opens? Don't be surprised if the turnout is low.....or is that what you're hoping for to avoid searching questions and confrontations?

Q. Why on earth was this arranged for the evening before the river season opens? Don't be surprised if the turnout is low.....or is that what you're hoping for to avoid searching questions and confrontations?
A. I’m sorry if this date is inconvenient for you. We have a mixture of coarse and game anglers coming to York on the 15th, and turnout is above that for similar meetings held in recent years.
We’re not trying to avoid ‘searching questions and confrontations’. We are looking to improve the ways in which anglers and the EA can talk to each other. We welcome searching questions, but I hope we can have constructive conversations rather confrontation!
We used to run three evening meetings (“Forums”) a year, but have now increased this to four. We are moving the locations around, so each year there will be one Forum in West Yorkshire, one in the North, one in East Yorkshire and one in the South . The idea behind this is that everyone will be able to attend a Forum close to where they live, and each Forum will be able to address local issues. Attendance at Forums is open to all (although numbers are limited by room size), so if you can’t make the North Yorkshire Forum on the 15th, you are welcome to attend the East Yorkshire (provisionally 21st September), or South Yorkshire Forums (provisionally 7th December). Our colleagues in Northumbria also hold similar evening meetings, their next one also being on the 15th June, in Newcastle.
In Yorkshire, we will be publishing newsletters throughout the year to keep you up-to-date with what we are doing. These will be published about a month before each Forum, so you have an opportunity to have a good read of it, then ask us questions about it on the evening. People who come to the Forums will receive the newsletter directly, but I’ll keep sending it to this website too, so everyone has a chance to read it.
Of course, the evening meetings aren’t your only chance to ask us searching questions. We really pleased with the way these web chats are going on yorkshirefishing. You can also contact us with questions at any time via 03708 506 506 (Mon - Fri, 8am – 6pm) or enquiries@environment-agency.gov.uk, online (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/contactus/feedback.aspx) or in writing to National Customer Contact Centre, PO Box 544, Rotherham, S60 1BY.
If you, or anyone else, wants to receive the newsletter directly, or wants to be invited to Forums, please send me a PM. I’d also like to hear from anyone who has an idea about how we can improve the way we talk to each other. Either send a PM, or post your ideas here.
I hope your fishing goes well on the 16th.
Jerome.

Hi,
The West Yorkshire forum took place on 20th April, so you've missed that one I'm afraid.
The North Yorkshire Forum will be on 15th June at Coverdale House in York - please let us know if you'd like to come, because room size will limit numbers.
The East Yorkshire Forum is pencilled in for the 21st September, but this will be need to be confirmed nearer the date (we haven't booked a venue yet).
The South Yorkshire Forum will probably be on 7th December. Again, we'll confirm more details (via the newsletter) nearer the time.
Jerome.
