Hi some countries in Europe are designing an actual test before you can get a licence for fishing say with knot tieing and safe rigs etc do you think anything like this might come into force in the uk in the future. regards Malc.

There are no plans to do this here yet. If we hear about this being discussed, we'll let you know via the newsletter and this website. Do you think it would be a good idea? Jerome.

The vast majority of anglers believe that fish safety is paramount. Why not do regular articles on it in your newsletters? I have not seen a newletter for some time have they been stopped?

Like most things it has it's pro's and cons and although it would be good for fish welfare i feel the cost of running such a scheme would be quite prohibitive and then getting test centres and paid coaches eeek it'll mean £50.00 licences

Hi. Thanks for your idea. We'll be issuing four newsletters a year, to tie in with our 'Fish Chats' (informal meetings that we'll be holding four times a year). We do a lot of work, and there's a lot to cram into each newsletter. I'm aware that they are already pretty long. I might be able to link to some of the information on fish safetly that's available elsewhere. The next newsletter should be out in a couple of weeks time. Jerome.
