me an satman[my partner]had a walk around roundhay park lake to day.tryed fish finder out[Xmas box]it really does work.got talking to some guys they were very impressed. they had a bait boat they attached the fish finder to the boat and sent it all over the lake. we was amazed at the results. we are going to give it a go at fishing one weekend. never seen as many angles at the lake it must be coming popular. has anyone any information on this venue eg fish size etc. PS.me and satman think this site [Yorkshire fishing] is very informative and members very helpful

Yes Leeds gave up the rights a while back so now its open to everybody. Its probably fished by more folk now than before.

Weekdays before weather gets too warm or early mornings, not really any pegs out of way, can be a nightmare with walkers, dogs, idiots etc. Saw some low doubles carp, plenty of roach, perch, bream, pike last summer.

Immigrants were caught dragging a net with two dinghies a couple of years ago. Watched another chap knocking 4-5oz roach for the pot. Might of been a bit of a crackdown now. Seems to happen everywhere now on some scale, wish I could carry a 12 bore and blast them away everytime I saw people nicking fish but that would be politically incorrect!

this place is good for night & early morning fishing its got plenty of bream in there all range from 3lb and upwards but gets a bit boring sometimes coz you keep catching the same size fish all the time bream bream and more bream but some nice roach too in there ranging from 1lb to 3lb..and if your very lucky you might catch one of the warrior carp in there...i caught this a couple of years ago

theres some huge carp in there and the shoal of bream me and my old man (bikethrasherzig) say last summer was massive must have been 2 metres wide and at least 30 long was just like a oil slick up near dam wall end when i was a bit younger when water level was right down there was a bloke fishing shallow end must have only been 2-3 foot at the deepest then and i waded in with no shoes n socks on to land a carp that a guy had hooked it was massive guessing the weight it must have been somewhere near 20lb easy it was a very nice fish roundhay is full of nice fish its just getting them theres some big perch, roach, pike and carp in there also bream have heard stories of tench but never seen one to have concrete proof but have witnessed 7-8lb bream coming out and 2lb perch and roach to 2lb also some very big hybrids good luck to anyone who tries for anything big here and succeeds is a very hard going place but like someones said before get there early the walkers and joggers start to get there about 6-630 so be very early if ya wanna miss em in summer months

Roundhay has some real top class fishing. Today's carp commercials have taken over from places like roundhay park. The roach in there run big as do the bream. As for the carp a friend had one around 12pounds on floating bread. Its a real big water full of some real gems.Maybe one day it will be fished enough for people to realise its potential
