I dispair..what are they upto? Off the boil or just not interested anymore? My theory is , based upon their past seasons performances this time of year is. If they carried on as they were playing before Christmas they would have gone up without question. However the press that surrounds LUFC is always keen to point out that once up they would have to restructure the team. That would mean a number of first team players would at best be playing " Bench " football or " Reserve Team " football. Or no football at all. What would you do to protect your way of life?
They have seen the writing on the wall and have backed off. This way they are all in a job next season. Peter Lorimer has stated in the press that they are only 1st. division footballers. With this kind of input the players will have been made aware of the situation and hence they can see there is nothing in it for them in the Championship.
There can be no other explanation for their dismal showing since January 1st. The FA cup has nothing to do with anything and has no bearing on League results.
No way back from this slide and I cannot see them making the playoffs.

The single point gained at the death may be the thing that saves them at the end of the day. As for restructuring, where's the money coming from? The players on view during the FA Cup run looked easily good enough to hold their own in the Championship so the press and past players should do their bit and support them.

1 Norwich 31 66
2 Leeds United 29 62
3 Charlton 30 57
4 Colchester 30 56
5 Swindon 29 53
6 Millwall 30 52

Mick its hardly panic stations at the moment, we are 4 points from top with two games in hand , but 5 points from 3rd with a game in hand, yes things have slipped since the scum game, but players will hold back so not to get injured before these games , so yes the FA cup is a distraction, remember we won the game mid week but lost on pens (we never do pens well).
today it sounded if we totally outplayed them but could not finish, bearing in mind our top striker was not on the field.
once the team is back to full strength IE beckford and paddy return things will improve,
we play one of our games in hand Tues night at home so we could be 1 point off the top. 8 above 3rd.
lets see what happens in the next two months

Good points there.I remember at Hull we said exactly the same thing.Got promoted and got rid of all but 3 players.
Still think Leeds will go up and with the same team hold there own in the championship.Just hope your not playing us next season ;D

If you are looking at if we get promoted what would the team look like , then imo a few changes but not many, both keepers would be fine, defence . well paddy, naylor, bromby , crowe would all do well, if we can keep parker/white injury free then the lerf back would be sorted. midfield of johnson, snodgrass, gradiel. Mcsheffery(his contract expires at the end of this season so we may get a freeby), kilkenny and howson , would be fine with a ball winner brought in, up front yes we would need a couple of strikers if beckford goes (which i think he will) to play along side beechio. grella.
and as a championship club you atract more investment or takeovers.
in terms of investment if we get promoted with our crowds we would be one of the best for investment (that is not big headed or here we go another leeds fan saying we are better than others), investers like big crowds of which they can get more money out of, so we would be up there with the others.
then i would like to stabilze ourselves in the championship for 3 - 4 years then push up for the prem, with a team that has well bedded together with the quialty it would need to stay up there .

Worry not, you'll be there........
York lost yesterday, I'm that used to them winning I nearly choked on me chinese.
Just a blip for both teams.
How can we complain about the odd dropped point ? A mate of mine hails from across the hills and is a lifelong Chester City fan and he's about to watch them implode and probably go out of business forever this week.
Having almost been there with York a few years back I know how he's feeling, its gut churning........

As I said earlier...no way back....Walsall 2 LU 1. Another job securer for next season..........AK I know you are am optimist anong with thousands of LU fans but I still do not hold out any hope of a recovery.Their first Cup game with the none league team announced to the rest of the division that they were beatable. Since that announcement what have they done other than beat a below strength Man U. Totenham they drew against then were well beaten. Carlisle stuffed them twice. Wickham held them, the list goes on. I would have to trawl through the results to get my figures correct but I have a feeling that they have only picked up 2 or 5 points from the last available 18. The teams round them are on a charge and now have no fear of Leeds home or away. League 1 looms for next season.

What they need to do to turn things around escapes me as the squad they have is the one that is at present disfunctional.

??? Mick all teams are beatable no matter what lge you are in, as for the games you mentioned, versus scum they were missing two center half's other than that were nearly full strength, spurs at home yes they beat us , but to be honest they played better the first game and drew, Carlisle DID NOT stuff us twice what was the result of the football game at there place, the final score was carlisle 2 Leeds 3, their keeper won it for then saving the two pens, we didn't even miss one which is unusual for us. against Walsal we were very poor, did not deserve anything from the game of which we didn't get anything.
only thing in our favor is apart from Norwich the others below use are not getting the best results also.

one thing can i ask, do you listen to the game via Yorkshire radio, IE Eddie gray , if so he is the most negative commentator ever to report on Leeds United. the quicker they get someone with a bit of life in them , would make better listening.

If we as fans knew how to turn things around when a club has a blip , we would not be fans, we would be managers ::)
believe me if we do not get promotion this season, the team will be riped apart as the most of the players will go to the championship anyway.
bring on sat and we can put these results behind us and get the 3 points we need.

I'm always pessimistic when it comes to Leeds.

What I have noticed however is that we have started playing the long ball a lot more recently and not only is it awaful to watch it is proving to be a waste of time. Becchio is good at holding it up but doesn't always make the right decision when he has it.

Beckford trys to do fancy flicks when he gets the long ball and they usually go to the opposition.

Snoddy looks shattered - more so than his usual running/playing style.

The addition of Lowry & McSheffrey - though good players - seems to have disrupted the team. I guess some players are feeling a little put-out by this.

I would like to see us get the ball down and pass it around and use the wingers more. We were doing this earlier on the season and teams couldn't cope with us. Recently against Carlisle we started with the long ball and it didn't work - when Kilkenny and Grella were on we started passing it on the ground and we looked a lot better.

Hopefully we can get 6 points on Saturday/Tuesday........... but I can't say I'm confident.

Marching On Whatever happens !!!!!!

Make that 4 depending possibly on whether the other team turns up or not. Talk about last minute escape. And against 10 men.

With Colchester, Charlton, Swindon and Huddersfield all winning today, we're only just holding on to that 2nd position now!

Get in there (or is it phew !!)

Good away win at Tranmere and nice to put a bit of daylight between us and third/fourth.

Also nice to see the goals shared around.

Only read the report on LUFC website but looks like it was a comfortable win.

Lets keep it going now at Southampton.........big big game that one. Probably best team I have seen at LUFC this season (though Norwich also impressed and we got them soon - and in between is Millwall)

good result and by what i heard on the radio we deserved the win, as for sat yes it will be hard , but jon i disagree southampton played well at elland road, i thought they were poor on the day but since have been firing on all cylinders, norwich have been the best team at elland road this season and deserved something from the game, but down to a bad kick out by their keeper we snatched it ;D imo

this month i think will show how the final league will look as everyone in the top 6 have to play each other in the next 3 - 4 games.
hopefully the team can take from last night and gain the points we need in the next 3 but we will have to be back on top of our game, Southampton, millwall and norwich will all test us fully .

Not going our way at the moment at all with the obvious result and injuries. I was impressed with Millwalls defence last night though, couldn't get through it at all.

It's funny how people only churp up about Leeds when things aren't going well ::)

yes we were shocking last night and to be honest i think grayson has lost the dressing room, his tactics are a joke at the moment and i don't believe he knows how to sort it.
