fished this yesterday, not sure what the stretch is called its coming out of bolton on dearne heading towards wath if anyone could tell me what its called that would help, not fished it before but planning to get to know the dearne more this year anyway not really much of a river angler and used a lead which i now realise was'nt holding the bottom properly switched to a heavy feeder later that evening and the penny dropped!! within seconds of the rod tip settling i was into a 3lb chub, had another and lost 6 fish in my last hour but can't wait for next i'm far more confident of catching well now! any tips anyones got would be much appreciated want to catch a river barbel this year so rig advice, bait, which streches are best would be a god send i realise no one will want to give out peg details, thats ok kind of want to find that out for myself, being fishing commercials for too long and this is a refreshing change!!

went downt to the adwick stretch the other day jumped into one of the first swims i saw nice days fishing, mostly small fish but pulled a perch of about 1lb out towards the end, looking to go down again at the weekend just abit of advice really, i want to travel light as possible as its a fair walk for me, would i be better off using a feeder or trotting? i'm looking to fish from the wier down to pastures idealy, and does anyone know anything about the pond/lake down near pastures bridge? is this just flood water or is it fishable? some one once told me it held some pike i don't know wether this is true or not

Went down the dearne on saturday, found a nice shallow run. started off catching small roach and dace, then as i was bring another small fish in there was a splash and a pike grabbed my fish - and it was still hooked, not a massive fish by all means but for float fishing tackle it was fun.
![[image] [image]](http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac232/kean87/PIKE.jpg)
sorry about the "in the net" photo but this being the first pike id caught i was not confident handling it, so rather than messing the pike about i took a quick snap a then returned as it gave me a good scrap, after this the fishing dies right down expectadley, so i moved on and fishing several swims, each swim i stopped in theres was an abundance of bleak, dace, roach and skimmers. could not escape the little bleeders haha no sign of chub unfortunatly.
better luck next time i suppose!

I went down to the adwick stretch today, had some baits i wanted to try out. No signs of any perch mort, ive had perch out before in some of the swims i fished today but i've only to around 1 1/2 lb, no luck today. Although i did catch 3 chub, didnt have any scales with me though. Here's some pics of them:
![[image] [image]](http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac232/kean87/riverdearnechub1-1resize.jpg)
This first fish came after a biteless 2 hours and 2 previous swims. Probs around 1 1/2lb - 2lb
![[image] [image]](http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac232/kean87/riverdearnechub2-1resize.jpg)
the 2nd fish was a real old warrior, twice as big and from the same swim , this was a short fish but it was really thick across the back, i'd estimate aroung the 4lb mark.
![[image] [image]](http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac232/kean87/riverdearnechub3-2resize.jpg)
My last fish came from a new spot, biggest of the 3, picture doesn't do it justice, pristine fish, just as thick as the 2nd fish if not thicker, the picture is quite bad, and it felt really heavy, i'd estimate at around 4 1/2lb - 5lb. Making it a P.B for me!

Been down the dearne again today, was a tad windy but didn't cause me too many problems. caught another 3 chub by keeping mobile!
first one was 3lb 3oz
![[image] [image]](http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac232/kean87/3lb3oz.jpg)
then i lost one in the tree, felt quite nice too! gutted! but then i landed this 4lb 15oz fish, my new P.B!
![[image] [image]](http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac232/kean87/4lb15oz2.jpg)
My mate was fishing further upstream so i gave him a ring n told him to come join me so he could get his first chub, unfortunatly he didnt catch anything.
but i added this 3lb 6oz fish, which he kindly took a photo of for me.

Another good day on the dearne if you ask me.

I've never fished near the dearne road stretch, i think i know where that is haha, to be honest i could quite easily get lost too! I've fished the stretch above the car park at harlington road, and the place i normally fish is the stretch between harlington road and pastures road, but i generally fish between the entrance at mill lane to pastures road. Although i quest for a 5lb chub may lead me above the footbridge at the mill lane entrance

Apparently I can catch Bream in an empty bucket, all I need do is fish for anything else.
